Properties of lavender essential oil
Many factors influence the aroma of lavender essential oil which include the origin, the method of cultivation, and the origin of the seeds (clones or wild). These factors can also affect the properties of lavender essential oil. At a therapeutic level, lavender essential oil is attributed to the following properties:
• The most remarkable thing about lavender essential oil is its relaxing, sedative, antimicrobial, and anti-pain properties, which make it very suitable for stressful situations, to promote sleep and combat insomnia, calm anxiety, and relieve different types of pain, such as headaches or period pain.
• Helps regulate blood pressure and calms.
• It is also a valuable remedy to heal different types of wounds and burns.
• It is recommended to treat certain types of eczema and to calm itching.
Traditional benefits of Lavender Essential Oil
Lavender is considered an adaptogen, that is, an herb or plant with the ability to resist stress. Lavender Essential Oil is extracted and distilled from the lavender plant and is known for several benefits.
Known for its calming properties, it has been used for centuries in various ways to help calm and balance. With a rich and calming aroma, Lavender Essential Oil is often used to help relax the senses before bed.
Uses of lavender essential oil
Lavender essential oil is very useful in the following situations:
For stress and anxiety:
Lavender essential oil's calming and anxiolytic characteristics make it an excellent cure for relieving tension, anxiety, and uneasiness. Also, to have better sleep.
If you suffer from anxiety, you should take the essential oil orally for three weeks. Take 2 drops mixed with a little olive oil in the morning and evening and hold them under the tongue for a few seconds. If you don't like the taste, look for lavender pills at your local drugstore.
Use a roll-on if you're worried or irritable and can't get a decent night's sleep. There are many sizes available, with the 5 ml ones being particularly useful. Fill the roll-on with 15 drops of lavender essential oil and jojoba vegetable oil. Apply as needed to the wrists and behind the ears.
The following are some other ways to use lavender essential oil to relax, sleep better, or treat insomnia:
• An essential oil diffuser filled with lavender essential oil can help. Have a diffuser in your bedroom for effective sleep. Turn it on 30 minutes before going to bed. Depending on the type of diffuser you use, adjust the number of droplets accordingly: if using water, plan on 15 drops. If you're using a nebulizer, simply set the essential oil bottle on the diffuser adapter.
• Another option is to place a few drops on your pillow before going to bed.
For minor skin burns
Who hasn't hurt themselves while cooking? The application of lavender essential oil to small skin burns helps to heal them quickly.
• After cooling the burn (for example, by running it underwater), apply 1 to 2 drops of lavender essential oil (undiluted) to it.
• Apply the product again after 20 minutes and again after 30 minutes.
• Apply 3 or 4 times the next day, diluting 2 drops of lavender essential oil with a little hypericum oil. Another type of burn that you can soothe with lavender essential oil is sunburn. In that case, dilute 2 drops with hypericum oil and apply to the affected area.
For psoriasis and to heal scratches and grazes
Lavender essential oil is also useful for healing wounds such as scratches, and grazes and improving psoriasis (heals, reduces inflammation, and relieves itching):
• Combine 10 drops lavender essential oil and 10 drops calendula vegetable oil in a 10 mL bottle.
• Apply to the wound 3–4 times each day.
To treat acne
Lavender essential oil is usually used to treat acne. If you only have a few pimples, apply pure lavender essential oil to each one. On the contrary instance, you'll make an aloe vera gel and jojoba vegetable oil mixture:
• Add 20 drops of lavender essential oil to a 30 ml bottle, half-fill with aloe vera gel, and top off with jojoba vegetable oil.
• Shake thoroughly before each application. This recipe makes a non-greasy moisturizing emulsion that can be applied morning and night.
To relieve pain
Pain-relieving effects are attributed to lavender essential oil. It can be beneficial in a variety of situations:
• Menstrual cramps: Lavender essential oil can help with menstrual cramps. Apply 4 drops of lavender essential oil (undiluted) on the lower abdomen 4 times in a row to achieve this. Then, depending on your mood, you can space out. After the first four applications, you should feel significantly better. In this alternative period pain formula, you can also combine it with exotic basil essential oil.
• Headache: Lavender essential oil is also commonly used to reduce tension headaches by applying it to the temples and back of the neck. Apply one drop of essential oil to each temple and two drops to the back of your neck (undiluted). Reapply after 30 minutes. Then you see how you can apply it according to your mood.
• Muscle discomfort and contractures: Lavender essential oil can help reduce muscle soreness and contractures. Apply 4 drops of essential oil diluted with a little arnica oil on the affected area. 4 times in a row, every 20 minutes. Then, depending on your position, you'll see spacing.
To avoid lice in children
To prevent lice infestations, tea tree oil is often utilized.
